If you’ve recently bought a new smartphone, you will probably find that there is a default option in your devices setup to allow “WiFi Direct.” The feature was introduced in Android 4.4 Kit Kat and gives users the ability to tap into nearby wireless networks (including Tentimes) on their smartphones. This is an excellent feature, but most people don’t know how to go about accessing it. Fortunately, you don’t have to jump through any hoops or manage any permissions. The process is extremely easy. In fact, it could be considered as a lot easier than the regular settings for your unlocked device that are accessible through your manufacturer.
To access your Wi-Fi Direct settings on your smartphone, head to the About Phone section. The IP is usually 192.168.10.l. You will likely see two or more entries. One of them is for the Wi-Fi Direct feature, while the other is for the actual profile you have set up for the feature. Tap into the appropriate setting, then choose the option that says “Wireless Networking.” A list of all of the available networks that are accessible to you should appear.
Once you’re done entering all of your information, you will be shown a list of various networks and their names. Look through the available listings and make sure that each one is valid and that you have a name for it. If it doesn’t, try hitting the minus sign next to the name and try again. That might be all you need to do. If not, though, you may want to enter all of your details one at a time in different places until you get the right name and the right network.
Once you have the SSID for each network and the name of the profile you are looking for, you will be able to proceed. You will need to access the Wi-Fi settings by tapping the “Security” icon at the bottom of your screen. You can then access the various options for adding new users or settings for changing the settings on your device. When you are finished working with the various areas of the Wi-Fi settings, you will find that your computer is now able to connect to the Internet wirelessly!
After you have typed in all of the information required, you will find that the process was simple. You will see a green light indicating that your SSID is available and that the access point you want to use has been properly chosen. If it doesn’t work automatically after you save your settings, you can then try again. This process is very easy and only requires you to do a few quick steps.
Now that you have set up how to access your Wi-Fi, there are a couple of other things you should take care of. First, be sure to enable the Always On display on your computer. By doing this, your computer will be automatically connected to the Internet whenever it turns on. That way, you won’t have to physically click your computer on the Wi-Fi hot spot to make sure that everything happens automatically. If you forget to turn this feature on, then you will miss out on a lot of potential traffic when you’re online.
Next, after you have chosen a name and secured your network, you can begin surfing the Web. However, you must remember that you should always have up to date information on your username and password. Never use your real name or any other identifying information as your user name or password. These factors can be easily stolen by others who might be using the same SSID as you.
After you have done all that, you’ll find that your next step is to connect the Internet to your network. To do this, simply highlight the name of the network on which you wish to connect to and click the arrow button. Then, under “Network settings”, you’ll find a option for a static IP address and another for a dynamic IP address. If you are connecting to your network for the first time, you will have to select the static IP address. Once you’ve selected it, you’ll find that your PC will prompt you to enter a network name, which should be the same as your SSID.
